2000 Election

Hey guys,

We had a great day today, the 2000 election was one of the closest in American History. The 2000 election just proves the saying "every vote counts". George W. Bush defeated Vice-President Al Gore by just 537 votes in the State of Florida.

Many of you will be 18 years old by the time the 2008 election arrives. Have you registered? Do you plan to vote?

Third Party Candidates

Hi guys,

We learned about the role of third party candidates in American elections. Ross Perot ran for president as an independent in the 1992 and 1996 presidential elections. Some consider his role in the election as a one of a spoiler, spoiling the election for President George H.W. Bush in the 1992 election. Ralph Nader ran for president under the Green Party in the 2000 election. His candidacy caused many democrats to place their vote for Nader. Political Scientists consider his role in the presidential race as a primary reason to the close contested battle in many state, including Florida.

The impeachment of President Clinton

History will tell us that President Bill Clinton had one of the most tumultuous presidencies. His presidency is often credited for ending a recession that afflicting the economy during the 1990s. America witnessed economic prosperity during his years as the 42nd president.

Many of you might remember when he got on TV and announced to America, "I did not have sexual relations with that women, Miss Lewisnky". Even with the prosperity of the economy, Bill Clinton is often remembered for his often infidelities and affairs. His lying under oath led the House of Representatives to file impeachment charges against him.

Bill Clinton is the only president other than Andrew Johnson to be impeached.

Papa Bush (George H.W. Bush)

Hi guys,

After 8 years of conservative trend under Ronald Reagan, Americans wanted to keep the status-quo. Reagan's Vice-President, George H.W. Bush was the best option and he was elected in the 1988 presidential election.

George Bush # 41 had a very high approval rating during his presidency, he successfully accomplished American goals in the Operation Desert Storm, liberation of Kuwait from Saddam Hussein and Iraq.

His approval rating reach nearly 89 % after the Persian Golf War, after the war his rating dropped significantly and he was not reelected. He only served one term, he was defeated by Bill Clinton in the 1992 election.

Persian Gulf War

Hi guys,





Today we covered a lot of material on the Persian Gulf War. Many of you were still in diapers when Operation Desert Storm began. I wanted to be sure that many of you took the time to read up on this incident.

Aerial and ground combat was confined to Iraq, Kuwait, and bordering areas of Saudi Arabia. Iraq also launched missiles against targets in Saudi Arabia and Israel"

Ronald Reagan

Hello all!

Simi Valley is the home to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, I am sure many of you have visited. This week we will be focusing our studies on his presidency.

You are very fortunate to live in close proximity to a museum like the Reagan. Ronald Reagan has a fascinating story, he was a former actor, governor and president of the Screen Actors Guild.
